Nippon Steel Acquires Large Diameter Pipe Bender

Nippon Steel announced on Tuesday the firm purchased controlling share of Amagasaki based large diameter welded pipe press bender, Nishimura Koki on the day to make the bender subsidiary. Through the acquisition, Nippon Steel tries to follow growing line pipe demand for energy industry as the group. The firm seeks profit growth by improving the ability to grab high valued products including large diameter pipe for building column and power plants.

Nishimura Koki with 22 of employees has monthly 2,000 tonnes of processing capacity. The process volume was 6,500 tonnes in fiscal 2009. The firm keeps the brand name while Nippon Steel controls 97% of the share.

Nishimura Koki has international certificates including APIQ1 and ISO9001 based on long term experience in energy projects. The firm has high level technology to make large diameter heavy steel pipe with high specification to resist cold weather, deep sea condition, high pressure condition and sour gas.

The firm is 6th subsidiary controlled by steel pipe and tube unit of Nippon Steel while the firm has 4 domestic subsidiaries including Nittetsu Steel Pipe, Nittetsu Anti-Corrosion, Tsurumi Steel Tube and Nippon Tubular Products and Siam Nippon Steel Pipe in Thailand.
