Nippon Steel Engineering Opens Marketing Office in India

Nippon Steel Engineering announced on Wednesday the firm established a local marketing office in India, named Nippon Steel Engineering India Plant & Machinery and started the operation on October 1. The office collects information about India’s market of coke dry quenching (CDQ) equipment and other environmental or energy saving steel plant equipment. The office is headed in Kolkata in East India where steel industry is concentrated. Nippon Steel Engineering sent 2 staffs of the steel plant business unit.

The marketing office was established with capital fund at 7.5 million rupees (approximately 15 million yen), 99% invested by Nippon Steel Engineering and 1% by Nittetsu Plant Designing Corp.

India’s annual crude steel production was 56.6 million tonnes in 2009. The production is forecasted to reach 293 million tonnes in 2020 if all of currently announced projects are realized. Nippon Steel Engineering aims to increase the sales of steel plant equipment, environmental and energy saving equipment for India’s steel market.
