Hitachi Cable Releases EV Charger in Sales Cooperation with Hitachi CM

Hitachi Cable announced on Wednesday the firm commercially releases wall-hanging battery charger for electric vehicles (EVs) in mid 2011 in sales cooperation with Hitachi Consumer Marketing (Hitachi CM), one of Hitachi Group’s companies. Hitachi Cable and Hitachi CM expect the battery charger can be introduced in homes, shops, offices or superhighways’ rest areas, also eyeing the sales to overseas market. They aim 20% global sales share in 2015.

Hitachi Cable produces the product at Takasago plant, Ibaraki, Japan. The charger is consisted of a charging gun, a charging cable, a CCID (charge circuit interrupt device) and a power code. The charger is complied with SAE J1722 standard, which can recharge batteries of EVs and plug-in hybrid EVs conformity with SAE J1722 standard.

Hitachi Cable adopted lead-free polyvinyl chloride sheath for charging cable, intended for home uses. The firm also improved the cable’s softness for easy use by original structure of conductors and insulations. CCID performances involve prevention and checking of electric leakage as well as night/power-saving charging modes.

Hitachi Cable produces the charger and Hitachi CM sells the product to end users because Hitachi CM has sales roots to end consumers and service know-how for equipment installation and after maintenance. Hitachi CM provides services for sales, installation and maintenance of environmental equipment such as energy saving home appliances, all-electric home appliances and solar power systems.
