Yamato Steel Increases Large Size H-beam Lineup

Yamato Steel, Japanese major electric furnace steel maker, starts production and sales of large size H-beam with 900 x 300 millimeters width and 912 x 302 millimeters width in March. The prices are set 8,000 yen per tonne higher than regular size products. Steel grade is SS 400 and SM 490. SN grade will also be added in April. Yamato Steel aims to secure H-beam orders by enhancement of product menu when domestic building construction market is shrinking.

Large size H-beam is used in large size building projects. The firm produces H-beam, channel, I-beam, sheet pile, elevator guard rail, and shaped steel for shipbuilding. Domestic structural steel market is shrinking by lower public budget and slower building construction. Yamato Steel tries to maintain sales volume by improvement of product quality and enhancement of product lineup.

Yamato Steel added new size H-beam with 800 x 300 millimeters width in 2008 and started production of new type wide sheet pile in 2010.
