Summit Showa Aluminum Aims 10 Yen/kg Secondary Al Alloy Hike in February

Japanese major secondary aluminium alloy maker, Summit Showa Aluminum aims to raise its alloy selling price by 10 yen per kilogram for February shipment. The firm hurries to reflect higher material and sub material costs on alloy price when productive cost has risen since January.

Japanese secondary aluminium alloy makers and alloy users are expected to conclude price negotiations for February shipment next week. Alloy makers targeted price hike by 10 yen per kg for January shipment but the actual hike was averagely 3-4 yen.

Summit Showa Aluminum aims to raise the price by 20 yen for February shipment if possible but alloy users show strong disapprovals against wide range price hike. Thus the firm eyes step-by-step hike.

In January, aluminium scrap price rose by 5-7 yen per kg got high grade and 3-5 yen per kg for low grade. The price continued to surge by 7-9 yen for high grade and by 5-7 yen for low grade in February. Additionally costs are also rising for additive metals, such as China’s metallic silicon or copper, as well as fuels.
