ReUSE-BIDzTECH to Add Ni, Co Recycle Furnace

Saitama based rare metals and rare earth recycling company, ReUSE-BIDzTECH invests 250 million yen to cobalt and nickel recycling system by July 2011. The firm adds reduction and baking furnace at the plant in Gifu to enrich low grade cobalt and nickel material for better quality as smelting raw materials along with better recycling efficiency.

The new furnace is to reduce cobalt and nickel oxide recovered from waste lithium ion battery, nickel hydrogen battery and metal coating sludge by adding carbon. Through the process, the recycled materials are enriched into materials with double content of cobalt and nickel. The process also can improve the quality of separated other metals including copper and aluminium.

The new furnace can treat multiple materials in 12 rooms in 4 lines. The 3 lines are to heat the materials directly while the other line is to heat materials in steam for tin and other materials with low melting point.

The firm also renews crasher, size sorting machine, magnetic sorting machine and dust and waste air collecting machine. Through the series of the investment, the plant increases the treatment capacity to monthly around 450 tonnes, which is more than double of current capacity.
