Nippon Metal Industry Raises All Stainless Product Prices by 30,000 Yen/t

Nippon Metal Industry announced on Wednesday the firm raises selling price of all nickel series stainless steel products by 30,000 yen per tonne effective for March contracts with domestic dealers. The firm raises the prices for 2 consecutive months, up by total 50,000 yen. The firm reflects nickel price upsurge on the selling prices for profit improvement. The firm also revises up steel grade extra price by 10,000 yen for SUS 316 and by 20,000 yen for SUS 316L.

Nippon Metal Industry eyes additional price hike by 10,000-20,000 yen along raw material price upsurge. Mr. Toshihiko Shimada, managing director said the firm can’t absorb raw material cost up without price hike and stainless steel becomes difficult material to use for users.

Nickel price at London Metal Exchange was average US$ 11.6 per pound in January and US$ 12.8 in February. The price reached US$ 12.9 on March 4th.
