Nikken Sangyo to Open Cylinder Plant with South Korean Maker

Japanese corrosion resistant steel tube maker, Nikken Sangyo and South Korean second largest cylinder maker, SHPAC establishes hydraulic cylinder plant in Busan of South Korea in July. They established joint venture, of which Nikken Sangyo controls by 34% with 66% by SHPAC, in July 2010 to open the plant.

The JV and SHPAC plans to merge in July 2011 to increase current SHPAC’s sales to 5 billion in 5 years. The JV purchased site in industrial estate for foreign companies of Busan receiving subsidy on February. The firm starts construction of the plant with 16,500 square meters of floor space on 23,100 square meters this month.

Nikken Sangyo eyes high value added construction machinery parts production to strengthen cylinder business and to utilize exclusive sales right of South Korean maker’s casting ring at offshore.

Nikken Sangyo opened its office in Hanoi in late January. The firm promotes marketing study in Vietnam expecting to follow growing demand in Vietnam.
