Lower Cu Ingot Price Pressures on Copper Scrap in Tokyo, Osaka

Copper scrap market price decreased by around 16 yen per kilogram in Tokyo and Osaka on Wednesday after Japanese official copper ingot price decreased by 20,000 yen to 840,000 yen per tonne on the day. The dealers try to hold the purchase activity to find the trend when they already secured the materials to commit contract for the month.

The scrap market price decreased by 16 yen per kg for copper scrap grades around Tokyo. The price is 735-740 yen for No.1 copper wire scrap, 710-715 yen for new cutting copper scrap, 660-665 yen for standard grade scrap and 630-640 yen for low grade scrap for smelters. The price is 725-735 yen for No.1 copper wire scrap, 705-715 yen for new cutting copper scrap, 640-655 yen for standard grade scrap and 620-635 yen for low grade scrap for smelters.

The scrap price decreased by 14-16 yen per kg for brass scrap grades around Tokyo. The price is 535-545 yen for new cutting brass scrap and 510-520 yen for brass turning scrap. The price is 520-530 yen for new cutting brass scrap and 490-500 yen for brass turning scrap around Osaka.

The scrap price decreased by around 16 yen per kg for bronze grades around Tokyo. The price is 545-550 yen for standard bronze casting scrap and 745-750 yen for new cutting phosphor bronze scrap for rolled copper makers.
