JX Nippon Mining & Metals Mulls Restart of Hitachi and Isohara

JX Nippon Mining & Metals announced on Thursday the firm will restart some of productive lines in Hitachi and Isohara areas of Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan within this month. The firm plans partial recommencement of rolled copper foil lines and precision processing lines in Shirogane works of Hitachi area. In Isohara works, the firm aims to restart productive facilities for surface treating agents, anode materials for lithium ion battery, and solder bumping service within March.

In Shirogane works, quality check is progressed for rolled copper foil inventories, to start the inventory shipment soon. Productive lines for rolled copper foil would partially recommence this month. As for the other rolled copper foil lines, the firm will announce restarting schedules within March.

The firm manufactures electrolytic copper foil in Shirogane works, too. However, the production has been suspended and the restarting schedule hasn’t been announced yet. The firm also continues operative suspensions at Hitachi works, a copper smelter, and HMC plant, a recycling plant, in Hitachi area.

At Isohara works, the firm started electrification and damage check of productive facilities step by step. Some of productive lines would restart soon. Meanwhile, as for sputtering target materials, the firm will announce the restarting schedule within this week. The firm is also preparing for productive recommencement of compound semiconductor products in Isohara. Large-size equipments such as monocrystalline furnaces were not damaged by earthquake.
