Japan Import Flat Steel Stock Decreases by 0.7% in February

Japanese imported flat rolled steel inventory decreased by 0.7% or 1,000 tonnes to 134,000 tonnes at quay in Osaka and Tokyo at end of February from January, announced by Japanese major steel trading firm, Hanwa Co. on Wednesday. The stock increased by 7.2% or 9,000 tonnes from a year earlier. The import decreased due to demand slowdown.

The inventory in Osaka was 72,000 tonnes at end of February as January. The plate stock decreased by 25% or 1,000 tonnes to 3,000 tonnes in February from January. The hot rolled coil stock decreased by 3.3% or 1,000 tonnes to 30,000 tonnes while the cold rolled coil stock increased by 5.4% or 2,000 tonnes to 39,000 tonnes.

The inventory in Tokyo decreased by 1.5% or 1,000 tonnes to 62,000 tonnes at end of February from January. The plate stock decreased by 10.0% or 1,000 tonnes to 9,000 tonnes. The hot rolled coil stock decreased by 5.1% or 2,000 tonnes to 37,000 tonnes while the cold rolled coil stock increased by 14.2% or 2,000 tonnes to 16,000 tonnes.
