Japan Al Construction Material Output Rises by 16.3% in January

Japanese aluminium construction material output increased by 16.3% to 22,198 tonnes in January from a year earlier, according to Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The shipment increased by 14.7% to 25,623 tonnes. Both the output and shipment increased for 6 months in a row. The demand apparently increased due to rebound of new housing starts and stimulus package.

The output and shipment of aluminium sash for building increased in January from a year earlier when condominium sales increased around Tokyo and Nagoya. However, the output and shipment were lower than the level before Lehman.

The output and shipment of aluminium sash for wooden house increased in January from a year earlier, which increased for 12 months in a row. The aluminium door and exterior output increased by more than 10% due to stimulus package.
