Nikkei MC Aluminium Mulls Indian Plant

Japanese major secondary alloyed aluminium maker, Nikkei MC Aluminium started study to build Indian new plant. The joint venture of Nippon Light Metal and Mitsubishi Corporation already started talks with 3 Indian makers for potential joint venture. Nikkei MC Aluminium will start special alloy shipment for Indian transplants of Japanese automakers from Nikkei MC Aluminium (Thailand) in the year to meet strong demand from the transplants. The studied Indian plant will supply special alloy for local users.

Nikkei MC Aluminium started the study for Indian plant in 2008 when Indian alloy makers approached to the firm for potential joint venture. The firm keeps the talks with Indian makers for the joint venture.

Indian transplants of Japanese manufacturers increase the order to Nikkei MC Aluminium. The firm shipped spot based cargo of commodity grade alloy for castings for India. The firm tries to export special alloy from Thai plant for Indian users.

Nikkei MC Aluminium is still studying potential Indian plant while the firm expects Indian automobile industry should grow sustainably. The firm checks potential options including joint venture with local makers to minimize potential risk.

The firm expects Indian alloy market will shift to higher grade products and to environmental friendly operation. The firm expects such change will support the Indian business especially for special grade alloy with higher technological expertise.
