Marubeni Enters 2 Copper Exploration Projects in Chile

Japanese major general trading house, Marubeni Corporation, announced on Friday the firm enters two copper mine development projects in Chile. The firm concluded a contract to acquire an exploration right in II Region, Chile from Japan Oil, Gas & Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC). Meanwhile, Marubeni Corp agreed in cooperative exploration in Cumbres mining site, II Region, with Antofagasta Minerals and Compania Minera Picacho.

JOGMEC has progressed copper exploration with Anglo American Norte in a mining site of approximately 36 square kilometers in II Region. The site is located about 30 kilometers southwest from Esperanza copper mine and El Tesoro copper mine, in each of those which Marubeni Corp holds 30% shares. Cumbres mining site is approximately 19 square kilometers, located in the east area of Sierra Gorda.

Marubeni Corp invests in these copper exploration projects and seeks feasibility. The firm shows a strong intention to expand and accelerate raw material explorations in Chile and other countries.
