Pacific Metals to Resume Operation in June

Japanese largest ferronickel maker, Pacific Metals announced on Tuesday the firm would resume 2 production lines of 3 lines at plant in Aomori in mid June while the firm stopped the production since the major earthquake in March. The firm turns on electricity to the 2 furnaces in mid-May. The firm expects the shipment resumes in July. The firm decided to conduct maintenance in late April while the firm planned the maintenance in June originally.

Pacific Metals confirmed no major damage at plant building. The firm found some damage in related facilities while the firm found no damage on electric furnace and kiln. The firm still checks availability for commercial shipment of some flooded products inventory due to the tsunami while the tsunami didn’t reach the raw material stock. The firm resumed ore unloading on April 11 after the repair of damage on ore accepting port facility while the firm still repairs some damage on port facility to ship the products. The firm already removed almost all inflows with the tsunami in the plant.

Pacific Metals group’s electric power generator resumed the operation on March 21.
