Kobe Steel Expands Welding Material Sales in Emerging Countries

Kobe Steel is kicking around measure to secure demand of welding material in emerging countries, Middle East or Brazil by establishment of sales base in India. The sales base in India sells welding material, increases sources of steel products and flux and brings up local staff.

The firm had been mulled establishment of sales base in India since 2009. The demand for welding material is 310,000 tonnes per year in India and is higher than in Japan, which was fraction of Japanese demand a few years ago and is continuing to growth.

The firm aims sales expansion of high-value added welding material for heat-resistant steel and stainless for energy industry.

Indian electric-generating capacity is expected to increase by around 70% to 1,250 terawatts in 2015 from 2006, according to International energy Association. Because coal and LNG electric power plants are expected to increase largely, the firm sells welding material for mainly heavy electric machinery makers and process machinery makers.

The firm established sales bases in Gurgaon, India and supports Japanese machinery makers in Gurgaon.
