Japan Rolled Al Shipment Hits Lowest Recovery in 14-Month

Japanese rolled aluminium output increased by 4.7% to 155,021 tonnes in January from a year earlier, according to Japan Aluminium Association. The shipment increased by 4.2% to 156,643 tonnes. Both the output and shipment increased for 14 months in a row. However, the increase was the lowest in 14 months due to slower flat products demand for automobile and beverage can.

The aluminium flat products output increased by 1.9% to 91,655 tonnes in January from a year earlier while the shipment decreased by 0.2% to 92,301 tonnes. The output increased for 14 months in a row while the shipment decreased for the first time in 15 months.

The aluminium extrusion output increased by 9.2% to 63,366 tonnes in January from a year earlier. The shipment increased by 11.1% to 64,342 tonnes. Both the output and shipment increased for 14 months in a row.

The aluminium foil output increased by 2.8% to 9,177 tonnes in January from a year earlier, which increased for 3 months in a row. The shipment increased by 3.8% to 9,220 tonnes, which increased for 15 months in a row.
