Itec Corporation Expands, Reshuffles Headquarters Operations

Japanese major steel dealer, Itec Corporation purchased additional land to double headquarters deposit and steel processing site in Shizuoka. The firm improves the operation efficiency with the larger space by integrating the steel fabrication operations into the newly acquired space. The firm will utilize the additional space for further efficiency of the group operations.

The firm purchased around 51,200 square maters of adjacent land with 400 meters long shipping berth and total 10,100 square meters of floor space of 5 buildings from JFE Engineering. Itec adds the new space on existing around 56,400 square maters of land with 200 meters long shipping berth and more than 30,000 square meters of plants and warehouses. The firm opened the headquarters site in 2000 but the space was too small when the firm increased the dealing volume and the major steel structure fabrication subsidiary uses around 5,000 square meters of space.

The firm now can speed up the shipping when the 600 meters long shipping berth allows loading on 3 vessels at same time and the firm adds 2 tower cranes on existing crawler crane. With total around 107,600 square meters of land, the firm transfers the fabrication subsidiary’s plant to one of the newly acquired building with around 2,300 square meters space while Itec doubles the yard to around 10,000 square meters. Itec uses 2 of the acquired buildings as deposit for steel products and 2 of the buildings with additional processing machine as the subsidiary’s processing plant for steel structure of building base and civil work.

Itec increases building structural grade of SN H-beam inventory to around 4,000 tonnes in the vacant plant space of the fabrication subsidiary. With the larger inventory for immediate shipment for Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya areas, Itec tries to expand the SN beam sales by 30%.

The firm realized more efficient operations and lower cost of the group and better service for the buyers through the series of the actions. The firm eyes further consolidation of the subsidiaries’ operations by utilizing the larger space.
