Furukawa-Sky Aluminum to Expand Asian Output Capacity

Furukawa-Sky Aluminum announced on Wednesday the firm adds a slab reheat furnace with monthly around 18,000 tonnes of capacity at Fukui plant for around 4 billion yen in fiscal 2012 starting April 2012. The firm also expands the output capacity at Vietnamese and Indonesian plants to meet growing demand for automobile industry.

The new reheat furnace can clear the bottleneck of the process at the rolling plant in Fukui. The plant will have total 2 reheat furnace after the investment. The firm tries to improve the productivity along with the additional capacity. With the additional capacity and better competitiveness, the plant provides rolled products including can materials, airplane materials and foil.

The firm adds 2 lines at Vietnamese aluminium casting parts making subsidiary, Furukawa-Sky Aluminum (Vietnam) for around 900 million yen to have total 8 lines. The capacity increases by around 30% to 1.25 million units per month from current 950,000 units. The plant tries to meet growing demand for turbo charger. The expanded capacity will contribute to the consolidated results of Furukawa-Sky Aluminum.

Furukawa-Sky Aluminum adds a press machine at Indonesian automotive heat exchanger grade extrusion materials making subsidiary, Furukawa Indal Aluminum to have total 4 machines. The capacity increases by 40% to monthly 700 tonnes in late 2012 from current around 500 tonnes. The plant tries to meet growing demand in the market.
