Aichi Steel to Start Construction of Thai Forging Plant

Toyota Motor’s special steel making affiliate, Aichi Steel started construction work of new plant in Thailand on Wednesday. Aichi Steel’s subsidiary, Aichi International (Thailand) held ground breaking ceremony to build integrated forging plant in Pinthong, Chonburi for around 2 billion yen as the first phase. The new plant starts operation in June 2012 while the firm transfers function of existing plant in Amata Nakon to the new plant. The firm eyes expansion depending one the demand condition.

Aichi International (Thailand) sells around a million units per month of forging parts for engine and propeller shaft of Toyota Motor’s multi-purpose vehicle. With forging parts supply from Aichi Steel’s Asian plant, Aichi International (Thailand) processes and inspects the parts.

Aichi Steel constructs Thai integrated forging plant to improve production efficiency. The firm tries to expand the business by following growing demand for forging parts in Asian countries.
