Tatsuta Electric Wire & Cable to Develop New Electronic Materials

Tatsuta Electric Wire & Cable develops new electronic materials after electromagnetic shielding film with 10% annual growth rate, announced at business presentation on Friday. Tatsuta Electric Wire & Cable also announced the firm will stop some of unprofitable telecommunication cables production at Kyoto plant by March 2012.

The electromagnetic shielding film sales significantly increased for smartphone for fiscal 2010 from fiscal 2009. Tatsuta Electric Wire & Cable expects the sales would increase more along with growth of smartphone market when shielding film use per unit is increasing. The firm also tries to develop new products for the electronic materials business as the cash cow shielding material. The firm establishes new research and development base in Kyoto, for which the construction work will complete in a couple of years.

Tatsuta Electric Wire & Cable expects 660 million yen of consolidated operating loss with 31.3 billion yen of sales for the wire and cable business for fiscal 2011 after the firm posted operating loss for 3 years in a row through fiscal 2010. The firm stops unprofitable items production to reduce the cost.
