Nippon Steel Engineering Accepts CAPL Order from Anyang Iron & Steel

Nippon Steel Engineering announced on Thursday the firm successfully accepted an order for the firm’s original continuous annealing and processing line (called CAPL) from Chinese steel maker, Anyang Iron & Steel. The order was cooperatively accepted with CN Steel Plant Engineering (CNSE), a joint company between Nippon Steel Engineering and CISDI Engineering of China. This CAPL will be the largest high-speed production line of steel parts for high-class home appliances in China with output capacity at 700,000 tonnes per year and maximum processing speed at 450 meters per minute. The construction is scheduled to finish in January 2013. Nippon Steel Engineering has accepted total three CAPL orders in China, previous two orders from Baosteel.

CNSE was established at the end of 2009. CISDI Engineering is one of Chinese three largest steel engineering companies. The capital fund is 10 million yuan, 51% shared by Nippon Steel Engineering and 49% by CISDI Engineering. CNSE covers design, production, facility procurement and sales of steel sheet processing equipment such as CAPL, CGL, CCL and ECL.

Nippon Steel Engineering and CISDI Engineering succeeded in the CAPL order acceptance since high price competitiveness, designing skills and after services were evaluated. The order contract was signed on February 28 and Anyang Iron & Steel started its first cold rolling mill project. Nippon Steel Engineering previously accepted an order for COG desulphurization equipment from Anyang Iron & Steel in 2003.

Anyang Iron & Steel is the 13th largest steel maker in China and the largest steel maker in Henan Province. The crude steel production was 10 million tonnes in 2010. The firm produces small- and middle-size shape steels, plate, bars and wire rods.
