Brass Bar Price to Decrease in Tokyo

Brass bar market price would decrease from around 680 yen per kilogram for free cutting grade with 25 millimeters diameter around Tokyo. Japanese official copper ingot price decreased to 720,000 yen per tonne from 800,000 yen in the beginning of August. Brass bar price would significantly decrease while the price has been 680 yen level since early April.

Brass bar demand slows for water tap and gas appliance when the rebuilding demand at the major earthquake damaged area decreased. Small diameter products demand seems to rebound for automobile. However, market sources see the demand is decreasing.

Despite the uncertainty at offshore copper market price, brass bar market price would decrease when the official copper ingot price is 140,000 yen per tonne lower than the level in early April. The price would decline in and after August 17 when most of dealers’ transaction stop in Japanese holidays.
