Toyoshima Opens China Forklift Arm Plant

Japanese special steel processor, Toyoshima established Forklift arm making subsidiary in Suzhou, Jiangsu of China. The firm held an opening ceremony with 130 attendees on August 9.

Toyoshima’s new Chinese plant with 10,367 square meters floor has about 30% higher productivity compared with Japanese plant in Hyogo due to automated facilities. The Chinese plant launched forklift arm making in May. The production increased to around monthly 8,000 units from 4,500 units in May. Toyoshima plans to increase the employees depending on the demand.

Toyoshima meets the local purchase demand from Japanese construction machinery makers’ transplants in China when the makers are increasing the production capacity of the transplants. Toyoshima’s Chinese plant start delayed due to global recession while the firm originally planned to launch the production in 2009. The Chinese plant will specialize in low grade products while Japanese plant will specialize in high value added products including large arms.
