Toyota Tsusho Launches Special Steel Fabricating in China

Japanese major trading firm, Toyota Tsusho Corporation started operation of the automotive special steel fabricating plant in Taicang, Jiangsu of China. The plant targets 3 billion yen of annual sales in 5 years.

Toyota Tsusho’s subsidiary, Toyota Tsusho (China) established the wholly owned subsidiary with 15.7 million yuan of capital in April. The plant with 19 employees started the processing operation.

Toyota Tsusho tries to serve local transplants of Japanese automakers by providing Chinese special steel through the new plant while the transplants use Chinese special steel in limited volume now. The plant with Chinese special steel stock provides cutting process and inspection service. Toyota Tsusho tries to expand such special steel service globally as the firm establishes the business model at the new plant.

Chinese transplants of Japanese automakers import special steel including knockdown sets while the plants use only a part of special steel made by Chinese steel makers. The transplants check quality and availability of Chinese special steel to increase local procurement.
