Sumitomo Metals Completes Seamless Steel Tube Price Hike by 15%

Sumitomo Metal Industries agreed with domestic large-lot users of seamless steel pipe, such as construction machines makers, in the price hike of seamless steel pipe by 15% effective for April production. Thus the price hike has almost penetrated among domestic wholesalers and the large-lot users.

Sumitomo Metals started the price hike offer against the all seamless pipe users effective for April production in order to cover large cost up for iron ore and coal. The price hike was approved by wholesalers in first and by the other users lately.

The supply and demand balance of seamless steel pipe is strongly tight at present. The export is active for oil wells while the domestic demand also maintains steady from construction machine and industrial machine makers.
