Krosaki Harima to Launch Indian Mud Plant

Japanese major refractory maker, Krosaki Harima announced on Tuesday the firm decided to build new mud making plant at Belpahar plant in Orissa of the Indian refractory making subsidiary, TRL Krosaki Refractories for around 200 million rupees. Krosaki Harima tries to follow growing demand for Indian steel industry by starting operation at the new plant in September 2012. The firm expands the sales in offshore market including Europe and Southeast Asia along with India through cooperation with the Indian subsidiary.

The Indian subsidiary makes tar mud and resin mud, which is used to infill thyere of blast furnace at the new plant with 18,000 tonnes annual output capacity.

Krosaki Harima acquired 51% shares of Indian largest refractory maker, Tata Refractories in May and changed the name into TRL Krosaki Refractories. Krosaki Harima established joint venture with Indian refractory maker, IFGL Refractories for potential mud making plant. With the new plant by the subsidiary, Krosaki Harima now intends to liquidate the joint venture.
