Toyota Motor Increases Japan Operation Rate through October

Toyota Motor apparently revised the domestic production plan upward to slightly more than 14,100 units per day for October, according to industry source. The firm plans to add the operation days to increase the daily output to more than 14,000 units for August and September.

Toyota Motor notified parts and material suppliers of the revised production plan through October. The firm plans around 326,000 units of production for October with 23 operation days. The firm increased the production target by around 3,000 units from original plan to around 252,000 units for August with 18 operation days. The firm also increased the target by around 21,000 units to slightly less than 320,000 units for September with 22.5 operation days. The firm plans to increase the production by adding 1.5 operation days for September and 2 days for October.

With the higher automobile production, local steel coil centers’ operation rate is increasing. Some coil centers’ processing volume for July is same level as the monthly average in 6 months through September 2010. One coil center source sees the processing volume in August would be higher than the average.

The coil centers try to secure additional manpower to increase the volume. They increase the working hours to avoid potential excess workforce when they are still uncertain for future order.
