Mitsui Mining & Smelting to Use Lower Grade Ore More

Mitsui Mining & Smelting improves the raw materials competitiveness in zinc smelting operation. The firm adds new granulator at Kamioka Mining and Smelting in Gifu to use lower grade ore. Mitsui Mining & Smelting increases the production of crude zinc oxide at Miike Smelting in Fukuoka through improvement of existing facilities. The firm tries to improve the competitiveness for zinc smelting.

Kamioka Mining and Smelting launches the new granulator at in October. The machine is to make zinc ore with more than 1 millimeter from micrometers of zinc ore fine in order to improve the operation efficiency.

Kamioka Mining and Smelting improves the dust cleaning process at boiler for sinter. Hikoshima Smelting in Yamaguchi also improves the dust cleaning process. Mitsui Mining & Smelting improves the availability of lower grade ore for better competitiveness.

Miike Smelting increases the crude zinc oxide production from current 25,000 tonnes per year by improving the operation. The firm decided to improve the operation with existing facility while the firm planned to add new furnace for the recycling before Lehman shock.
