Secondary Aluminium Alloy Makers Set Scrap Purchasing Price Flat

Secondary aluminium alloy makers and aluminium scrap dealers around Tokyo agreed to set the scrap price almost unchanged for first half of July shipment from second half of June while the bottom price was slightly raised by 1-2 yen per kilogram mainly for low grade scrap. Aluminium scrap demand has gradually recovered along secondary aluminium alloy makers’ operative upturn.

The demand is increasing mainly for low grade scrap such as aluminium sash scrap and aluminium alloy turning scrap, those which are used for AD12.1 grade die casting alloy. However, alloy makers’ AD12.1 selling price is likely to downturn in July. Thus alloy makers show cautious stances in material procurement. The purchasing price is around 140 yen per kg for sash scrap.

As for used beverage can (UBC), the generation volume is increasing seasonally while the demand keeps stable from re-melted aluminium can scrap ingot makers and deoxidizing agent makers. The supply and demand are presently balanced. Alloy makers set the purchasing price unchanged at around 132-133 yen per kg.

Alloy makers pay 186-188 yen per kg for ADC10 grade base metal though the price was expected to reach 190 yen. Alloy makers showed strong disapprovals against the price hike. Meanwhile, generation of used automotive engine, the main source of material for ADC10, maintains seriously stagnant and the market price is edging upward.
