Japanese VVF Cable Makers Receive Prenotification along Price Cartel

It emerged on Thursday that approximately ten Japanese VVF cable (vinyl insulated vinyl sheathed flat-type cable) makers received prenotifications of surcharge payment orders and cease-and-desist orders related to their price cartel from Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC). The top three share makers, Yazaki Corporation, Fuji Electric Wire, Sumiden Hitachi Cable and other VVF cable makers were prenoticed. The surcharge seems to total 6 billion yen or more.

Approximately fifteen Japanese VVF cable makers were inspected by the commission in and after April 2010. JFTC judged approximately ten players committed the price cartel for 2006-2009.

VVF cable is the major item among building wires and cables, which is much used for electricity distribution inside houses.
