Mitsubishi Steel to Expand Spring Production in China

Mitsubishi Steel Mfg. builds new large coil spring making plant in Zhejiang for 1.25 billion yen to start shipment for construction machinery in January 2012. The firm contributes to local procurement by the users. The firm also adds new line for automotive coil spring to increase the production in August to follow growing demand in emerging countries.

The firm secures adjacent land of automotive coil spring making MSM Ningbo Spring to build new spring making plant with annual 18,000 tonnes of output capacity for construction machinery. MSM Ningbo Spring also doubles the capacity by adding new production line.

Mitsubishi Steel Mfg. increases offshore sales rate to near 40% in 2 years from around 25% in fiscal 2010 ended March 2011 by following growing offshore demand. The firm’s Thai precise casting products making plant keeps high level production for turbo charger of diesel engine. The firm’s US spring unit tries to regain profitability in June through ongoing restructure. The firm also integrates offshore 3 plants for precision parts including cell phone hinge into 1 plant by July to improve the productivity.
