DOWA’s Copper Production to Drops by 72% in 1H

DOWA Holdings announced the group plans to make 15,680 tonnes of electrolytic copper for April-September 2011, which is 72.4% lower than volume in the same period of 2010. The production largely decreases since Onahama Smelting & Refining in Fukushima, Japan was downed by Japan Earthquake, in which DOWA Holdings holds about 32% shares. Onahama smelter is scheduled to restart operation on July 1.

The zinc output plan is 64,066 tonnes for April-September, decreasing by 2.3% year-on-year. The electrolytic lead production is planned to increase by 12.1% to 5,741 tonnes. The production is planned at 3,041 kilogram for electrolytic gold and at 137 tonnes for electrolytic silver, both decreasing year-on-year.
