Nippon Steel Seeks High Carbon Wire Rod Export Price Hike for Jul-Sep

Nippon Steel aims to raise the export price of high carbon steel wire rod by US$ 30-40 per tonne for July-September shipment from the previous quarter. The export price increased by US$ 200-250 for April-June shipment. However, Nippon Steel considers the price hike was insufficient and the current price is lower than the other suppliers’ selling prices.

Nippon Steel analyzes the demand maintains strong in Southeast Asia and the U.S.A. though automobile market entered adjustment phase in China.

Nippon Steel Bar & Wire Thailand, a subsidiary of Nippon Steel and a wire rod processor in Thailand, was in 70% operation level for April-May due to the users’ car production decrease and component procurement difficulty. The operation returned to the full level in June.
