Regarding the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Measures, the Iron Federation Comments that Reporting Requirements Should be Consistent with WTO Rules

On July 11, the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JSF) submitted public comments to the European Commission on the draft implementing law on reporting requirements during the CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) transition period. In their comments, the Federation called for ensuring consistency with WTO rules, minimizing the burden of reporting procedures in light of the objectives of the system, promptly clarifying unclear points and details in the draft implementing law, and respecting national systems regarding the price of carbon paid in the country of origin.
