According to the April-September 2014 bare metal production plan by 8 Japanese non-ferrous smelters, electrical copper increased by 4.9% from the previous year, rose by 1.5% from the previous term estimation to 783,780 tons, with total of 6 companies. It exceeded 780,000 tons on the half term basis, for the first time since the first half of fiscal 2010. PPC keeps enhanced production, and Sumitomo Metal Mining and Mitsubishi Materials factor in the increase by reaction from periodic repair on the background of firm demand. Zinc kept flat at 265,680 tons compared with the previous year, and electric lead decreases by 2.2% to 101,632 tons.
