Kobe Steel, Kakogawa to Reconstruct Heavy Plate Accelerated Cooling Equipments

Kobe Steel announced on 11th that the firm has decided to plow for reconstruction of accelerated cooling equipments in heavy plate mill of Kakogawa Works. The firm plans to begin construction in July 2014 and complete in March 2015. Total investment amount is around 4 billion yen including accompanying equipment. The reconstruction makes layout of water-cooling nozzle thicken and come close to steel sheet, and make it possible to high-pressure jetting to steel sheet. TMCP (heat process control) technology is high accuracy, heat treatment is gone online, and they make it possible to manufacture high-intensity, high-tough and highly weldable steel sheets.
