Kobe Steel to Establish CAL for High-Tensile Cold-Rolled Steel

Kobe Steel announced on 17th to decide to produce high-tensile cold-rolled steel for automobile in China. The firm will invest around 1.75 billion yuan (around 28.9 billion yen) with Anshan Iron and Steel Group, the major steel company in China, and establish annual 600,000 tons of Continuous Annealing Line (CAL) newly in Anshan Steel Works. It will start in the beginning of 2016 and supply over 590 MPa of high-tensile steel to user in China. For Kobe Steel, it is second production base for high-tensile cold-rolled steel in abroad, following joint venture with US Steel in USA. The firm tries to expand global business, establishing global supply chain of high-tensile steel sheet.
