Crude steel production in Japan keeps flat from the previous year to 54.07 million tonnes in January – June of 2012, the Japan Iron and Steel Federation announced on 19th. Converter steel decreased by 1.8% to 40.91 million tonnes, electric furnace steel increased by 6% to 13.16 million tonnes. In the last year, demand decrease affected the outputs due to equipments-damage caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake. This term, the result was affected by exports-decrease by rising yen and sluggish of Asian steel materials market and low demand for domestic shipbuilding and electric-appliance.
