Higher Japan Plate Shearing Process Demand in July-September

Japanese plate steel processors’ demand will increase by 2.0% to 520,000 tonnes including their cut processing and toll processing for July-September from April-June, according to report of members of Japanese plate shearing processors’ group to Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on Wednesday. The group expects the demand increases slightly for construction and by 15% for construction and industrial machinery.

The group sees the plate demand is still recovering at slow pace. The group expects higher demand in and after summer.

Their cut processing volume decreases by 2.3% to 510,000 tonnes in 510,000 tonnes in April-June from January-March. The volume increases by 1.4% to 1.03 million tonnes in April-September from same period of 2011.

The group expects the cut process order increases in and after summer when major building projects start mainly in metropolitan area. The demand also increases for bridge depending on public tender process for fiscal 2012 stared April.

The group expects their inventory is 350,000 tonnes level from June to September while the stock was high level at around 380,000 tonnes in April-September 2011. The stock level keeps normal level based on monthly 180,000 tonnes of shipment.
