Strong Japan Cu Scrap Market

Japanese copper scrap market price is firm in Tokyo and Osaka when Japanese official copper ingot price could increase by 10,000 yen from current 630,000 yen per tonne under lower yen rate. The scrap dealers still keep the scrap selling price waiting revision of the official ingot price.

The No.1 copper wire scrap price is 555-565 yen per kilogram around Tokyo and 550-555 yen around Osaka at the dealers’ purchase price. The new cutting copper scrap price is 535-545 yen around Tokyo and 520-525 yen around Osaka. The smelting grade copper scrap price is 490-500 yen around Tokyo.

The brass scrap price is 395-405 yen per kg for new cutting scrap and 340-350 yen for turning brass scrap around Tokyo. The price is 355-385 yen for new cutting brass scrap and 295-345 yen for turning brass scrap around Osaka.

The bronze scrap price is 405-415 yen per kg for standard casting scrap and 560-570 yen for rolled copper grade phosphor bronze new cutting scrap around Tokyo.

Telegraphic transfer selling rate is 80.04 per US dollar on Tuesday compared with 80.29 yen on Monday. Japanese smelters’ breakeven point with imported ore decreased from 637,000-642,000 yen per tonne on Monday to 636,000-638,000 yen on Tuesday. The dealers still watch the market conditions including offshore copper market and exchange rate.
