Nippon Steel Supports Toyota’s Hybrid Racing Car at Le Mans

Nippon Steel provided high functional electrical steel for motor of Toyota Motor’s racing hybrid vehicle for World Endurance Championship by Federation Internationale de L’Automobile (FIA).

The hybrid vehicle, TS030HYBRID is successor model of TS010 and TS020, which ranked high at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1990s. The hybrid racing car is challenge for Toyota Motor with more than 4 million units of world hybrid vehicle sales. The vehicle debuts in the race starting June 16.

TS030HYBRID has state of the art 3.4 liters V8 engine with capacitor, which was developed with Nisshinbo Holdings. The driving motor use core made by Nippon Steel’s electrical steel. The high performance steel material contributes to durability under the severe race condition.
