Flat Rolled Steel Market Price to Drop around Tokyo

Flat rolled steel market price would decrease from 58,000-61,000 yen per tonne for hot rolled flat steel, 75,000-78,000 yen for cold rolled steel and 85,000-89,000 yen for hot dip galvanized steel around Tokyo. World market price decreased and Baoshan Iron & Steel announced the selling price cut for domestic shipment for July.

Japanese integrated steel makers are talking for price for first half of fiscal 2012 started April with major contract users. The makers would reduce the price due to decrease of raw materials cost in year to year basis. The price for the users would impact on the distributors’ market.

Baoshan Iron & Steel announced the firm reduces hot rolled flat steel selling price by 200 yuan per tonne for July shipment. The firm reduces the price for the first time in 2012. Flat rolled steel market price kept increasing in Asia since the beginning of the year but the price peaked out at near FOB US$ 700 for hot rolled coil. Other steel makers would follow the move by Baoshan Iron & Steel.

Nippon Steel, JFE Steel and Kobe Steel announced selling price hike for flat rolled steel for the dealers. However, the dealers’ reselling price is decreasing due to slower demand.
