Almine Opens Aluminium Wire and Bar Plant in Vietnam

Osaka headed independent aluminium re-roller, Almine completed construction of its new Vietnamese factory and held an opening ceremony on May 30. The factory will enter mass production at the end of September with 24,000 tonnes of annual output. The plant will sell products to Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe and the USA.

The new subsidiary, Almine Vietnam was established with $ 18 million of capital fund. The employee number is around 100. The factory is located in Luong Son industrial estate, Hoa Binh, 90 km southeast from Hanoi. The site is 33,000 square meters and the factory floor is 15,000 square meters.

The factory produces aluminium and aluminium alloy wire rod, alluminium alloy bar and wire with 0.1-25.0 mm of diameter. The products will be sold to automotive components makers, electronic parts makers and precision machine makers of Japan, the USA, Europe, China and Southeast Asia.

The factory will have 2 melting furnaces, a continuous casting and rolling line, 7 wire drawing machines, 5 bar drawing machines and 5 heating furnaces, including some facilities transferred from Misumi plant in Yamaguchi, Japan.

Almine operates 4 plants in Japan, one in Osaka and 3 in Yamaguchi. The firm has concerned on supply stability in the disaster or other troubles since 3 plants are intensively located in Yamaguchi. Additionally current strong yen trend has impacted Almine’s profitability and cost competitiveness.
