Toyota Tsusho to Launch Joint Bar Processing Plant in China

Toyota Motor’s trading affiliate, Toyota Tsusho Corporation announced on Thursday the firm and Osaka based cold finished steel bar maker, Sanyo Metal established for automotive bar making joint venture in Changzhou of China in May. The joint venture starts construction of the plant soon to start operation in early 2013.

Sanyo Metal controls 51% of the joint venture with US$ 5.625 million of capital. Toyota Tsusho has 49% share in the joint venture. The new plant will supply products for Japanese automobile makers’ transplants in China. The firm utilizes Sanyo Metal’s technology of bar processing and Toyota Tsusho’s stable steel supply ability to meet growing demand from Japanese automakers for local purchase.
