Japan Cathode Cu Export Jumps in April

Japanese cathode copper export increased to 2.3 times at 46,807 tonnes in April from a year earlier, announced by Ministry of Finance. The export rebounded from very low level in a year earlier under limited supply from the major earthquake damaged refineries. The export for China increased to 2.4 times at 16,495 tonnes.

The copper scrap export increased by 10% to 32,009 tonnes in April from a year earlier, which reached 30,000 tonnes for 2 months in a row. The export for China increased by 13% to 29,490 tonnes, which marked high level as March due to strong demand in China and increase of supply in Japan.

The aluminium scrap export increased by 21% to 11,361 tonnes in April from a year earlier. The export for China increased by 29% to 7,068 tonnes including shredded aluminium scrap and aluminium sash scrap to meet steady demand in China.
