NSSC to Cut Nickel Series Stainless Flat Steel by 10,000 yen/t

Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel (NSSC) announced on Monday the firm decreases the selling price of nickel series stainless plate and cold rolled flat steel by 10,000 yen per tonne for the distributors for June order. The firm reduces the selling price of chrome series cold rolled flat steel by 5,000 yen. The firm reflects raw materials cost and yen rate as of May end.

The price change is the first time since November 2011 for nickel series products and since August 2011 for chrome series products.

Averaged nickel price was US$ 7.72 per pound in May, which was US$ 0.40 lower than April average. Averaged yen rate decreased to 80.75 yen per US dollar, which was 1.80 yen higher from April average.

NSSC sees the dealers’ shipment was slow for cold rolled flat steel in April and May after higher shipment in February and March. The firm sees actual demand is firm for kitchen and gas and oil related industry. The firm is still cautious for the supply balance.
