San-Etsu Metal to Start Commercial Sales for Special Cu Alloy Wire for Connector

Japanese largest brass bar maker, San-Etsu Metal increases sales of special alloy wire for connector. The firm got certifications from offshore automotive parts makers for newly started special alloy wire. The firm starts mass production for some of the products line. The firm tries to develop domestic and offshore buyers for around 20 products as high valued strategic items.

The firm makes around monthly 50 tonnes of round and square wire for connector. Brass wire represents major part of the volume. The firm started high functional special copper alloy wire at newly introduced furnace at Takaoka plant.

The firm already supplies sample of the 19 of special copper alloy products to the users. The firm got certifications from Chinese plant of US major automotive parts maker for 4 alloys. The firm already got order from the parts maker to start commercial shipment in June. The firm expects monthly 3-4 tonnes of shipment for the user.

The firm expects higher demand for the high grade wire from automotive parts plants in China while some of the parts plants now import the material from Europe. The firm expects the high grade products will contribute to the better profitability when the processing charge is 1.5-2 times of commodity grade brass wire.

The firm prepares for higher sales of wire for connector by expanding tin reflow plating capacity. The firm increased the capacity to monthly 36 tonnes by increasing the line speed compared with 30 tonnes before.
