Tokyo Steel Reduces Ferrous Scrap Purchase Price by 1,000 yen/t

Tokyo Steel Manufacturing reduces ferrous scrap purchase price by 1,000 yen per tonne for all plants on Tuesday. The new price is 31,000 yen for H2 grade for ocean transport to Kyushu plant, 30,500 yen for land transport to the plant, for Tahara plant and Okayama plant. The price is 30,000 yen for Utsunomiya plant and 28,500 yen for Takamatsu steel center.

Japan Steel Scrap Composite Prices, which are averaged price in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, decreased by 500 yen to 20,600 yen per tonne for H2 grade and to 24,100 yen for new cutting press at the dealers’ purchase price.

Local dealers’ ferrous scrap purchase price is around 21,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Tokyo last week. Tokyo Steel reduced scrap purchase price by 500-1,000 yen for all plants including Utsunomiya plant on Friday and local electric furnace steel makers followed the move while market price kept almost flat in around a month. The scrap supply gets loose due to lower demand form steel makers and lower local exporters’ purchase price around Tokyo bay.

Local dealers’ ferrous scrap purchase price decreased by 1,000 yen to 18,800 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Nagoya last week.

Local dealers’ ferrous scrap purchase price is around 20,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka last week. The price almost kept flat after Japanese long holidays in early May but local makers reduced the scrap purchase price last week.
