Suzuki Metal Industry Completes 70% Steel Wire Expansion at Suzhou Plant

Suzuki Metal Industry completed second phase expansion at Chinese steel wire making plant, Suzuki Garphyttan Wire (Suzhou) to increase the annual output capacity by around 70% to 10,000 tonnes. The firm increases production of oil tempered wire for automotive engine valve spring to follow growing demand. The firm expands the supply ability of the network in Japan, Europe, USA and China.

The president Noriyuki Masumitsu said at the opening ceremony on Wednesday the expansion is major step to meet users’ needs and supply high grade products for development of the users and Chinese economy. Sweden based Suzuki Garphyttan’s president Yan Pieters said the Suzhou plant expanded the capacity with support by Suzuki Metal Industry and Nippon Steel to offer higher grade products.

World largest automobile production country of China made 18.42 million units of automobile in 2011. The production is expected to reach 20 million units in 2012 while Japanese, European and US automakers increase high grade automobile production in China. Suzuki Metal Industry group increases the market share for steel wire for engine valve spring from current 20%.
